Privacy Policy

With the following statements, we would like to explain which information we collect about website visitors and how this information is being used.

Statement of Intent

From time to time, you will be asked to submit personal information (e.g. name and email address) in order to receive or use services on our website. Such services include user accounts, newsletters and downloads. We treat this information in accordance with this policy and applicable law. Cognitone acts in accordance with current legislation and aims to meet current Internet best practices. We ensure that all personal information supplied is held securely, in accordance with current legal provisions.

Cookies

When you enter certain areas on our site, your browser will automatically be issued with a cookie. This is a standardized small text file wich is administered by your browser. In our case, this text file contains an anonymous session identifier, which for instance stores your current shopping cart and login status. By encrypting this information, we ensure that nobody else will have access to the pages of your user account.

While you could disable the use of cookies in your browser settings, please note that doing so will prevent you from logging into your user account or using our web store. By using this site, you agree with our use of cookies.

Google Analystics

This site uses Google Analytics, exclusively for obtaining statistics about our own site. For this, your browser stores a cookie. Information shared with Google merely contains technical specs, no personal information. We do not use this information (e.g. your current IP address, browser name and operating system) for any advertising purposes. By using this website, you agree with our use of Google Analytics.

Anti-Spam Policy

Cognitone will only contact you for purposes related to the services you have signed up for. For example, we may need to send you administrative messages, or notify you about things related to your user account or the products you have purchased or downloaded. We will not use your email address for any purposes other than those you have expressly agreed to.

Use of Personal Information

Being a business in the EU, we have legal obligations towards you in the way we deal with your personal information. We must collect the information fairly, that is, we must explain how we will use it and tell you if we want to pass the information on to someone else.

In general, any information you provide to Cognitone will only be used by Cognitone and its immediate service providers. It will never be supplied to third parties without first obtaining your consent, unless we are obliged to do so by law enforcement.

In case you post offensive or inappropriate content anywhere on our site, or otherwise engage in any disruptive behavior, Cognitone can use all information available to us in order to investigate and stop such behavior.

Personal information is held on our systems only for as long as it is needed to provide the associated services. For example, during a checkout at our shop, we do not store your bank account and credit card information at all, for security reasons. You may ask us to delete your user account, as long as you did not yet obtain any licenses or downloaded software. For security reasons however, we reserve the right to keep data available for a period of six months. Independently of this website, we archive all business records for the duration of the retention periods required by law.
